Members of the Humanitarian Youth Group (HYGP) met with a representative of the Site Management Cluster in Gaza City for a presentation and discussion on coordination mechanisms, challenges in displacement sites and opportunities to strengthen youth participation in humanitarian response.

The Palestinian NGOs Network (PNGO), in partnership with ActionAid Palestine, hosted a meeting at its office in Gaza City, bringing together members of the Humanitarian Youth Group (HYGP) and Ms. Alessia Giannitti, a representative of the Site Management Cluster in Gaza. The meeting aimed to strengthen young people's understanding of humanitarian coordination mechanisms and explore opportunities for their greater involvement in humanitarian response efforts.

During the meeting, Ms. Giannitti delivered a presentation outlining the work of the Site Management Cluster and how humanitarian organisations coordinate their efforts across displacement sites. The presentation also covered key priorities and challenges in managing these sites amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, highlighting the importance of effective coordination in responding to the needs of displaced communities.

The meeting provided an opportunity for open discussion, with participants exploring the challenges young people face in engaging in humanitarian work and ways to strengthen their involvement in coordination mechanisms. They also exchanged ideas on how young people's skills, experiences and knowledge of their communities could contribute to humanitarian response efforts.

The meeting highlighted the value of connecting young people directly with humanitarian coordination bodies, giving them a clearer understanding of how humanitarian response is organised and coordinated on the ground. Such exchanges can help bridge the gap between young people's experiences and humanitarian decision-making, creating more opportunities for them to contribute to discussions on response priorities and the needs of affected communities.
